PRIVACY POLICY
Privacy, in plain English.
CheckMeIn is a check-in service for learning centers, made by LiraTechs in Southern California. This page explains what information we handle, why, and what we never do with it.
Last updated October 22, 2026
The short version
- Each center owns its student and family information. We handle it only to run CheckMeIn for that center.
- We never sell anyone's information, and we never use it for ads.
- Parents only see their own children.
- Staff confirm every pickup. CheckMeIn helps them, it doesn't replace them.
Information the center puts in
The center adds its students and families, usually from its own export. This can include student names, card numbers, grades, subjects and levels, class times, birthdays, optional photos, parent and guardian names, emails and phone numbers, and who is allowed to pick a child up. Centers decide what to add and can turn photos off for any child.
Information created while you use it
- Check-in and pickup: arrival and departure times, "I'm outside" notices, absences, bookings, and notes staff or families add.
- Sign-in: parents sign in with a one-time code sent to their email. We keep sign-in records such as the time, device type and IP address to keep accounts safe.
- Staff activity: staff sign-ins and a log of important changes, so the center can see who did what.
- Lobby TV: the TV shows first names, optional photos and time left for children in the room. Centers choose what the TV shows.
When you contact us or book a demo
If you request a demo or email us, we get the details you send, like your name, center, email, phone number and a good time to call. We use them to reply to you. Please don't send any student information through these forms.
The CheckMeIn phone app
Parents can use the CheckMeIn app for iPhone and Android to see their children's check-in status, tell staff they are outside, book visits and see closures.
- Signing in: you type your email and we email you a one-time code from CheckMeIn. To find which center(s) know your email, a small CheckMeIn directory keeps only a scrambled fingerprint of each parent email for each center (a different scramble for every center). It holds no names, children, phone numbers or addresses.
- After you sign in, the app talks directly to your center's own server. Your children's information stays there.
- On your phone the app keeps your sign-in for each center in the phone's secure storage. It does not use ads, tracking or analytics tools, and it doesn't ask for your location, camera, contacts or photos.
- Notifications (if you turn them on) only say "Update from" your center's name. Your child's name and details appear only after you open the app.
Who else handles information
We run CheckMeIn on LiraTechs servers. A few trusted providers help us do that:
- Cloudflare delivers our web pages securely.
- Microsoft 365 sends our emails, like sign-in codes and center messages.
- Apple, Google and Expo deliver phone notifications for the app. They receive a device token and the short "Update from" message, never children's names.
- Stripe processes subscription payments. Card details go straight to Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers.
They only handle information to provide those services to us. We may also share information if the law requires it.
Emails
Sign-in codes and pickup messages are part of the service. Any marketing email from us or from a center has an unsubscribe link, and we honor it. Our own marketing emails record which links you click so we can follow up with you. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you and stop using that click information.
Keeping it safe
Everything is sent over HTTPS. Staff devices are set up by the center, staff have their own PINs, and each center's data is kept separate. We keep regular backups so a center doesn't lose its records.
Children's information
CheckMeIn is used by centers and parents, not by children. Children's information comes from their center, and is used only to run check-in, pickup and scheduling for that center.
Deleting your app account
In the app, go to Account → Delete my account. Or use checkmein.app/delete-account, where we email you a code that can only be used to delete. This removes your app sign-in, your devices and notification settings, and the directory fingerprint for your email. Your center keeps its own records of your family and attendance, because the center manages them; ask the center if you want those changed or removed. To use the app at that center again later, ask the center to allow it.
Getting a copy or deleting information
A center can export its data at any time. Parents should ask their center first, since the center manages their records. You can also email us and we'll help. When a center leaves, we delete its data after giving it a chance to export, except for backup copies that expire on their own or records we must keep by law.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Questions? Email [email protected].
